Upcoming Events:

  • THE LIGONIER FOOD PANTRY . . .
Has asked the people of St. James to collect bottles of salad dressing for distribution in July. There is a box in the side church for your donations. Please try to have your donations to the church by Sunday, July 12.

  • MARK YOUR CALENDAR . . .
For our annual Outdoor Worship service, being planned for Sunday, July 26, the Sunday nearest St. James' Day. The 10:00 am service that date will be held in the churchyard, weather permitting. There will be an indoor covered-dish "picnic" in the fellowship hall after the service.

  • OFF TO SEQUANOTA . . .
Please keep in your prayers this week the 7 St. James youth who are attending Camp Sequanota today through Friday: Leah B., Lily E., Paige O., Ashley S., Alexis W., Geoffrey W. and Terry W. If you'd like to send a note to any of the campers, address it to: Camper's name, Camp Sequanota, PO Box 245, Jennerstown, PA, 15547. Our congregation is providing one-half the cost of the week at camp for each of these young people. Any donations to the St. James camp scholarship fund would be appreciated. Please be sure that your gift is clearly marked for the Campership Fund. Thank you!

  • WOMEN OF THE CHURCH . . .
You are invited to attend the monthly Dorcas Class on Tuesday, July 7th at 1:30 pm in St. James' fellowship hall. Join us for an hour of fellowship, Bible study and a delicious dessert.

  • A TRIP TO MARS, ANYONE . . . ?
On Tuesday morning, July 14, a groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the new Assisted Living Alzheimer's Residence at St. John Specialty Care, our Lutheran home in Mars, Pennsylvania. Bishops of the 3 supporting synods will take part. Since a number of our St. James members have contributed to this project through the Abundant Life capital campaign during the past few years, it might be nice to participate. Pastor Paul is offering to make the trip and take along anyone who might be interested in attending. We would leave from St. James at 8:30 am. Let Pastor know by this Tuesday, July 7 if you'd like to go, so that we can RSVP and make plans.

  • VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL PLANNING . . .
Our 2009 Summer Vacation Bible School will be held in the evening, Tuesday July 21, Wednesday July 22 and Thursday July 23! If you are available to help during these dates, please contact K. Poerschke.

  • THRIVENT FINANCIAL FOR LUTHERANS . . .
Southwest PA Chapter #30723 is again planning a Family Fun Day at Idlewild Park on Sunday, July 12. Door prizes will be awarded during the day. Free ice cream and beverages will be served between 4:00 and 6:00 pm. Advance tickets are being offered for the discount price of $18.00 per person. Contact the church office by June 28 to order tickets or request information

  • USHERS AND LECTORS NEEDED . . .
For the month of July! We are in need of Ushers for both early and late services, and Lectors for the early services on July 12 & 19 and the late service on July 26. If you are able to help out please sign up on the sheets located at the back of the church.
