Our Mission:
The members of the family of St. James celebrate a Lutheran witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We worship and serve in response to God's love.

Upcoming Events:

  • SOUPER BOWL OF CARING . . .
On Sunday, February 7, we will once again join with many churches across the nation in participating in the Souper Bowl of Caring. As the teams compete in football's "Super Bowl", church members will be called upon to remember that in this culture of excesses, there are still many neighbors in need. Soup kettles will be available here at St. James so that you can make an offering to the local Ligonier Valley Association of Churches Food Pantry. Please come prepared to make a generous gift!

  • THE ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING . . .
Will be held on Sunday, February 14. Written reports from committees should be turned in to the church office as soon as possible to be duplicated for the Bulletin of Reports. Thank you in advance for your prompt response.

  • VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR SNOW REMOVAL . . .
In an effort to save on excessive expenses during the winter months, the property committee would like to explore the availability of volunteers to help remove the snow from the church sidewalks this winter. A sign-up list with dates for the remainder of the month has been placed on the information desk. We would like to ask those who are available and able to sign up for specific dates. If you can offer more than one date, we greatly appreciate it. We ask that you include your phone number when signing up. Keep in mind that the snow removal is necessary throughout the week as well as on Sundays. Thank you in advance for your generous donation of time and labor!!

  • BLANKET DRIVE . . .
In order to help our friends and neighbors in the community stay a little warmer this winter, Smith Oil holds an annual blanket drive. They are collecting new and gently used blankets (no holes or frays) for distribution. A basket for donations is in the side room of the church, and blankets will be collected until the end of March. Be sure to find it in your warm heart to help with this wonderful cause!

  • FROM THE PROPERTY COMMITTEE . . .
We are initiating an effort to purchase new tables for the social hall. The new tables are light-weight and easy to handle. If you would like to donate to their purchase, please place your check in the offering plate clearly marked: NEW TABLE PURCHASE. The new tables are $80 each but any amount is appreciated.
Thank you for supporting this important improvement.
