Our
Mission: The members of the family of St. James celebrate a Lutheran witness
to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We worship and serve in response to God's love. |
Upcoming Events:
-
OUR TRADITIONAL "SIMPLE SOUP SUPPERS"
. . .
Will be held on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship
Hall here at St. James. They will be followed by a half-hour devotional
service, which begins at 7:00 pm. The suppers began on Wednesday,
February 24. A sign-up list for folks to host each supper has
been posted at the information desk. Please join in this time of Lenten
fellowship.
- THE DORCAS CLASS MEETINGS RESUME . . .
Following their annual January-February winter break. All women of the
congregation are invited to join them for a time of devotions, planning,
and, of course, refreshments! The meeting are held the 1st Tuesday of
each month, and they begin at 1:30 pm, and usually wraps up by 3:00
pm.
- BLANKET DRIVE . . .
In order to help our friends and neighbors in the community stay a little
warmer this winter, Smith Oil holds an annual blanket drive. They are
collecting new and gently used blankets (no holes or frays) for distribution.
A basket for donations is in the side room of the church, and blankets
will be collected until the end of March. Be sure to find it
in your warm heart to help with this wonderful cause!
- FROM THE PROPERTY COMMITTEE . . .
We are initiating an effort to purchase new tables for the social hall.
The new tables are light-weight and easy to handle. If you would like
to donate to their purchase, please place your check in the offering
plate clearly marked: NEW TABLE PURCHASE. The new tables are $80 each
but any amount is appreciated.
Thank you for supporting this important improvement.
- RELAY FOR LIFE . . .
Representatives of the Ligonier Valley are gearing up for this year's
American Cancer Society "Relay for Life", May 7 - 8.
St. James' Team Captain is J. Alexander, one of our star relay "walkers".
See the Parish Notes for more
information.
