Our
Mission: The members of the family of St. James celebrate a Lutheran witness
to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We worship and serve in response to God's love. |
Upcoming Events:
- TAIZE PRAYER SERVICES . . .
This month's service will be held November 16, at 6:30 pm, at
Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville. Pastor Paul will be attending,
and invites you to ride along with him!
- FAMILY GAMES NIGHT. . .
Is Friday, November 21. Hope to see you there!
- THE LIGONIER COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING SERVICE
. . .
Will be held next Sunday evening, November 23, at 7:00 pm in
the upper level of the Mill Creek building. It will be "A Service
of Thanks" featuring music from the Valley Youth Network praise
band.
- BLANKET DRIVE . . .
In order to help our friends and neighbors
in the community stay a little warmer this winter, Smith Oil holds an
annual blanket drive. They are collecting new and gently used blankets
(no holes or frays) for distribution. A laundry basket for donations
is in the coat rack area. Blankets will be collected until the end
of March. Be sure to find it in your warm heart to help with this
wonderful cause!
- THE NOVEMBER PORK CHOP DINNER . . .
Will be held on Thursday, December 4, (one week later than
usual), due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Sign-up lists are now posted
for helpers, servers, and dessert donations. Please sign up today! Also
the reservation list is available on the information desk
- SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGERS ARE NEEDED .
. .
Members of St. James will again be ringing the bell at the Giant Eagle
store this year. Please sign up to help the Salvation Army's mission!
Dates are Tuesday and Wednesday, December 2nd and 3rd, from 9:00
am to 5 pm. The sign-up list is now available on the information desk.
- CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR CHILDREN . . .
Many thanks to everyone who has signed up to participate in the Christmas
"wish-lists" program this year. The lists for the local Salvation
Army have been distributed, and those gifts should be back to the church
by November 30th. The lists for Trinity North Side are on the way, and
may be available today. Those gifts must be at the church by Sunday,
December 14th. If you have pledged a monetary gift please submit it
by next Sunday, November 23rd.
- BUDGET AND ELECTIONS MEETING . . .
As set forth in the constitution and by-laws, the congregation will
meet on November 23, the Sunday before Thanksgiving, to elect
Church Council members and approve the 2009 budget. The meeting will
be held following the 10:45 am service that day.
- THE RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE . . .
For November will be held here at St. James on Wednesday, November
26, from 12:00 until 6:00 pm. We will need volunteers to register
donors, serve snacks, etc. Donations of cookies and cakes for the post-donation
snack are also welcome.
- CARE PACKAGES FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS . . .
Let's give our college students a surprise gift from their church family.
We are collecting items to send them midterm exam "care packages."
It's a great way to say we are thinking of them at this stressful time.
Drop items off at the church by November 30.
- POINSETTIAS TO DECORATE THE CHURCH . . .
will be available at a price of $6.25 per plant. Orders are due November
30.
- BETHLEN HOME CHRISTMAS LIST . . .
Is included in today's Parish Notes. This is a list of items that can
be purchased for the residents of Bethlen Home. Place your contributions
in the large box near the coat rack. Please have all items in by December
7th.
